I have decided to cease detailing each significant appointee, and detailing each time President-Elect Trump steps in it, by some senseless thought he expresses, before thinking of the global consequences. How I hate even the thought of him becoming chief executive of this country.

I make this change in intent, because the distastefulness of following his actions is simply too high. There are far better ways to spend one's single lifetime.

If you haven't seen it, I recommend watching a specific episode of PBS's (Yes, the same PBS the Republicans hate.) show called Frontline. It presented an Episode called, "2016, The Choice". It provides a unique biography of both of the candidates, but Trump's was quite informative. I learned more about him there, than from any other source.

For all of us who did not vote for him, it is our job to survive his term(s), and avoid any damages he might reap upon this nation, as well as the world.

From this point forward, my attitude will best be summed up by Theodore Roosevelt's comment on Patriotism. It is as follows:

Ranking Republicans have a favorite complaint about this country's debts. They claim a huge number of over $21 trillion dollars. If this huge number was truly real, it would be crushing, but as usual, that number is very disceptive, and not at all what is claimed to be true. The portion that is owed to "foreign" entities is the smallest portion, and is still a very large number of just over $6 trillion. The GDP of the United States is high enough to sustain that debt. I am not defending us having spent it, and certainly not on what we did. So what makes up the remainder? I explain below:

  • A new study finds that most income growth in the "so-called" recovery benefited the richest Americans, and a large chunk of the 99 percent was completely left behind. Unless you've been living under a rock, you wouldn't be surprised by these findings. The study has been provided by the Economic Policy Institute, so it is worth reading. It provides useful data. Data, such as provided in this article, is not available in a more current date than 2013. It takes a few years to accumulate, and then organize that quantity of information.

    • For Example, here is a direct quote of a paragraph from it:
      "In 2013, income inequality was much higher in many states, metropolitan areas, and counties than for the United States overall. In 2013 the top 1 percent of families nationally made 25.3 times as much as the bottom 99 percent."

  • How do the debts accumulated by past, and current administrations strain the incomes, and retirements of the American middle class?

    • Legislators complain bitterly about the debt, but if you notice from the image below, the majority of the debt is owned to our own citizens, and the majority of that is Social Security related.

    • Legislators are also "completely" responsible for the Social Security debt becoming the largest component of this nation's debt. They have dipped into that trust fund to the point that is not only empty, it became a debt. The trust is earning no interest, as it was designed to be. If it had not been raided, and replaced with IOU's, it would be paying out money, not sucking it up.

  • Who owns America's debt?

    • A quote from an article from money.cnn.com: Of the $12.9 trillion chunk of debt owned by Americans, $5.3 trillion is held by government trust funds such as Social Security, $5.1 trillion is held by individuals, pension funds and state and local governments and the remaining $2.5 trillion is held by the Federal Reserve.

Most of our legislators are too young to remember the days when ignorance about our environment lead to catastrophic pollution our of waters, and air. This is also a main topic section of The Protagonist's Ear. We are witnessing a return to neglect of both our natural environment, as well as our physical infrastructure. All of the calls for reducing spending on these is a ruse for the desire to spend monies on other preferred lobbyist dominated topics.

Let's go back just about seventy years to an age where expediency over reason put our entire species at risk. This is also the beginning one of the greatest lobbying efforts of all time. Eisenhower described it as the beginning of the "Military Industrial Establishment".

Key aspects of the man: Arrogant, deliberately ignorant, (the definition of stupidity), considered Russia his adversary, and the Army his enemy.

The operation had two goals. One was to remove, from the Army, its exclusive control of nuclear weapons. Second, was intended to demonstrate that the navy could withstand atomic bombs. Over $100 million, and many dozens of contaminated warships later, it was conceded that the explosion was not the only factor to address, when considering surviving atomic bombs.

Operation Crossroads was a pair of nuclear weapon tests conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll in mid-1946. They were the first nuclear weapon tests since Trinity in July 1945, and the first detonations of nuclear devices, since the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. The purpose of the tests was to investigate the effect of nuclear weapons on warships.

The cleanup was hampered by two significant factors: the unexpected base surge and the lack of a viable cleanup plan. It was understood that if the water column fell back into the lagoon, which it did, any ships that were drenched by falling water might be contaminated beyond redemption.

Nobody expected that to happen to almost the entire target fleet. No decontamination procedures had been tested in advance to see if they would work and to measure the potential risk to personnel. In the absence of a decontamination protocol, the ships were cleaned using traditional deck-scrubbing methods: hoses, mops, and brushes, with water, soap, and lye. The sailors had no protective clothing.

  • The Third Reich's inability to attack England, Scotland, and Ireland, during WWII, was due to those nation's advantageous geographic, and geologic characteristics of being island nations. Germany's Blitzkrieg tactics dominated Poland, and even avoided France's Maginot Line. It was simplified by the ability to use land routes to attack. Those nation's defensive weaknesses were due simply to hard ground. The island nation's defenses were weakened by their need to obtain their supplies via the same substrate that prevented the Third Reich's tanks from penetrating over hard ground.

    The Third Reich could, however, take advantage of the critical weakness of island nations. The weaknesses of Island nations, such as the UK, Japan, and Australia, were their potential lack of natural resources, or more importantly, their potential lack of manufacturing strength. Island nations require transporting the vital resources they might lack, within their own boundaries, across water. Even if they possess substantial manufacturing strength, that strength can be suffocated by a lack of either natural resources, or lack of energy.

    We, as a nation, have failed to comprehend that we can, regardless of being the northern portion of an entire continent, be reduced to an island nation.

    Not long ago, the manufacturing sector comprised thirty-five percent of our nation's GDP. Today, manufacturing is below twelve percent. We have not only shipped hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas, and out of our continents borders, we have shipped an equal percentage of our manufacturing capabilities off shore. We began, without concern to the consequences, the process of turning the US into an island nation.

    I can not say that I could explain this situation any better than the article I have provided a link to, below.

    Unbelievably, the members of SCOTUS weren't satisfied with Citizens United, and nor were the lobbyists. They had to go for round two.

    This latest decision that opened the floodgates of unlimited corporate money in US elections, and gave birth to the Super PAC, has been followed up by its new, and younger sibling. They are now free to raise as much money as they can squeeze from the One Percent, and especially the one percent of the One Percent.

    Previous legislation left a dollar figure above which even the SuperPacs were limited. That's not true anymore...

    Clinton hadn't been watching the store, so when the midterms came around, his party got slaughtered. The Republicans now controlled both houses. New legislation started to pour in, and most were related to deregulation.

    Often referred to as the Republican Revolution, or the Gingrich Revolution, the midterm elections of 1994 resulted in a net gain of 54 seats in the House of Representatives, and a pickup of eight seats in the Senate.

    The gains in seats in the mid-term election resulted in the Republicans gaining control of both the House and the Senate in January 1995.

    At that time, I was the CEO of an environmental management firm.

    One of my firm's largest clients cancelled our maintenance contract, with an explanation of, "We simply don't need you anymore." He didn't retain a competitor, nor was he required by law to retain a firm such as mine.

    He simply decided to ignore any consequences of failing to monitor, and meet discharge water quality standards. He expected EPA's enforcement division to be cut to levels below those likely to pay attention to his firm.

    That division of my firm began a rapid reduction in income, and lost all potential new clients. The industry, as a whole, is by most assessments dead.

    I have looked, and finding any firm performing the tasks we did has eluded me.

    The Republicans were on a role, but how about the Democrats, and in particular Bill himself?

    After leaving office is when it truly began to pay off for Bill, and Hillary. The gains for Bill himself? They are phenomenal.
